Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 2026
1. Introduction
ShieldScan ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you use our AML compliance platform for the Ethereum blockchain. Please read this policy carefully. If you disagree with its terms, please discontinue use of the platform.
2. Information We Collect
We may collect the following categories of information:
- Account information: Name, email address, and password when you register for an account.
- Usage data: Pages visited, features used, timestamps, and interaction patterns on our platform.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, operating system, and device identifiers collected automatically via log files and cookies.
- Payment information: Billing details processed securely through our third-party payment provider. We do not store full card numbers.
- API usage data: Requests made through our API, including timestamps and response metadata.
3. Wallet Addresses
When you submit an Ethereum wallet address for AML screening, that address is processed to retrieve publicly available blockchain data. Wallet addresses you scan are logged for security, audit, and compliance purposes. We do not associate scanned wallet addresses with your personal identity unless you explicitly link them within your account. Blockchain data retrieved during scans is considered public information and is not subject to deletion requests under standard data protection regulations.
4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to improve your experience on our platform. These include session cookies necessary for platform functionality, preference cookies to remember your settings, and analytics cookies to understand how our platform is used. You can control cookie settings through your browser. For full details, please review our Cookie Policy.
5. Third-Party Services
We integrate with the following third-party services to deliver our platform:
- Etherscan: Used to query Ethereum blockchain data. Wallet addresses submitted for scanning are sent to Etherscan's API. Etherscan's own privacy policy governs their data handling.
- Analytics providers: We may use analytics services to collect aggregated, anonymised usage statistics.
- Payment processors: Billing is handled by PCI-compliant third-party processors. We share only the data necessary to complete transactions.
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services. We encourage you to review their respective privacy policies.
6. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to: provide, operate, and improve our platform; process transactions and manage your account; respond to support inquiries; send service-related communications; detect, prevent, and investigate fraudulent or unauthorised activity; comply with applicable legal obligations; and analyse usage trends to enhance user experience.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide services. Account information is retained for up to 90 days following account deletion, after which it is permanently removed from our systems. Scan logs and API request records may be retained for up to 12 months for audit, compliance, and security purposes. Anonymised or aggregated data may be retained indefinitely for analytical purposes.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data: the right to access data we hold about you; the right to request correction of inaccurate data; the right to request deletion of your data; the right to object to or restrict certain processing; and the right to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details below. We will respond to verified requests within 30 days.
9. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS), access controls, and regular security reviews to protect your data. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
